Completely Awful

Things went horribly wrong. It was a real train wreck. We tried to {compensate|handle the situation, but it was like trying to stop a tsunami with a spoon. We're still picking up the shards and feeling the sting of this epic fail.

This issue has spiraled out of control. It's a total disaster. We've tried everything to fix it, but nothing seems to function. At this point, it feels like we're toast. Frankly, I don't know what else to do. This is a nightmare of epic proportions.

Dude, This Is Pathetic Yet Somehow Entertaining

Sometimes you find yourself face-to-face with situations so horrifically bad that you can't help but burst out chuckling. It's like your brain tries to make sense of the sheer extent of destruction and just resigns itself to fate, opting for a weak, desperate giggle as a coping defense.

But then, you realize that it's not really actually that amusing. It's just plain horrifyingly awful. And the laughter you were experiencing morphs into a groan.

In the end, you are left with a sense of bewilderment. You start ruminating about the purpose of it all. Was this some kind of twisted art experiment?

Or were we just living in a simulation gone wrong?

A Disaster of Epic Proportions

The earthquake struck suddenly, destroying entire villages in its wake. Buildings collapsed like fragile toys, and the roar that followed was deafening. Worst Day Ever

It all started with a case of uncontrollable hair. I couldn't figure it to look right. As I was hurrying out the door, I trippedon and dropped my lunch all over the carpet. To make matters worse, I was totally behind schedule for work.

I sweating. My {boss|mentor|was absolutely furious. I tried to explain, but it was pointless.

The rest of the day was just as bad. seemed to conspire against me. I couldn'tfocus.

By the time I got home, I was physically and emotionally wiped out. This day, this horrific day will be forever remembered as an epic fail.

Things Went From Bad to Absolutely Terrible

It all started out horribly with a simple mishap/incident/screw-up. But then things went from bad to absolutely terrible. A series/chain/cascade of unfortunate/awful/disastrous events unfolded/occurred/piled on top each other, leaving me feeling like I was in a nightmare/horror movie/comedy of errors. It's the kind of situation where you just want to run away and hide.
